Legalicious Community Guidelines & Content Policy

Effective 8 October 2026. Supplements the Terms of Service.

Where a feature described below is not yet available, the provisions about it apply only when it is offered. Named likes, follows or shares are not activated before the Private activity control is available.

What this place is for

Founders learning how the law works, from lawyers who can explain it. Everything below follows from that.

What likes and follows mean

A like on a lawyer means a founder finds their explanations useful and would want to hear more from them. A like on a video, post or answer means it helped. A follow means you want to see more.

None of these is a rating of legal ability. None is a review, a testimonial, a ranking, or a statement about anyone's results.

Comments are public. Likes and follows are counts until Private activity exists. Your display name shows on your comments and posts. Likes and follows are shown as counts only until the Platform offers a Private activity setting. Once it does and account holders have been notified, with Private activity off — the default — your display name and company show alongside your likes and follows too, to everyone including the lawyer, who may receive that public activity as audience information. This is how professional networks work. Once the setting exists and account holders have been notified, turning on Private activity hides your name from likes and follows; those actions still count in totals. It does not hide your name on posts or comments.

Some things are never public. Which lawyers you've saved, what you've watched, whose profile you looked at, and whether you clicked a contact button. Lawyers see those only as numbers.

No lawyer ever gets your contact details from us, and there is no way to message you through the Platform.

We may hide, aggregate or stop showing counts at any time — including in specific jurisdictions where showing them would raise an issue under professional conduct rules — and may reset counts we think were manipulated.

Rules for everyone

One person, one account. No second accounts, shared accounts, or accounts made to like or follow.

Ask about topics, not your situation. Everything you post is public. Don't post the facts of a dispute, deal terms, names of counterparties, or anything confidential or privileged — yours or anyone else's. "How do SAFEs convert?" is a question. "My investor is refusing to convert our SAFE, here are the emails" is your case file, and it doesn't belong here.

No incentivised, coordinated or automated likes or follows. Nobody may offer, request or accept anything of value for a like or follow. No trading, brigading, bots or scripts.

Be honest about who you are. No impersonation. Don't claim to be a lawyer if you aren't, and don't misstate where you're admitted.

Be decent. No harassment, abuse, threats, hate speech, doxxing, or defamatory content.

Don't solicit. No advertising, pitching, or promoting products, services or legal practices in posts, comments or profile fields, unless the Participation Agreement and applicable Enrollment expressly permit it, and then only where it permits it.

Don't use the Platform to go after people. Don't use anything you learn here to contact, pitch or pursue another member on the Platform.

Don't scrape. No crawling, harvesting, bulk downloading, or using anything here to train a model, without our written consent.

Stay on topic. Off-topic, spam, or low-effort content may be removed.

Rules for lawyers who post

If you're a lawyer — faculty, guest, or lawyer member — these apply on top of the rules above.

General information only. Posts, comments and answers must be general educational information about a topic. Never legal advice to an identifiable person about their situation. If someone posts their situation, respond with general information about the topic, or don't respond.

Never say or imply an attorney–client relationship exists, and never invite a user to send you their confidential facts here.

Don't solicit, and don't build a private channel. No offering to represent a specific user, no "DM me," no directing a specific user to contact you, no working around the absence of private messaging through posts, comments or profile fields. If you're faculty, your contact button is on your profile and nowhere else. If you aren't, it's nowhere.

About the engagement data you can see. Where audience information is offered, you may see the names and companies of members who publicly commented on your content and, once Private activity exists, who followed you or liked it. That's public information gathered in one place — the same as on any professional network. It comes with no contact details and no way to message anyone. Don't use the Platform to reach out to those people. If you decide to contact someone outside the Platform, that's your own decision, made on your own judgment, under your own professional conduct rules, including any rule on solicitation. Legalicious isn't part of it and hasn't recommended it.

Don't like or follow yourself, and don't arrange for your firm, partners, associates, staff, agency, clients or family to do it.

No confidences, no results, no superlatives. Don't disclose client confidences or describe client matters in identifiable form. Don't state or imply past results. Don't compare yourself to other lawyers. Don't call yourself the best, top, leading, or an expert.

Your rules are yours. You're responsible for the professional conduct and advertising rules of every jurisdiction where you're admitted, including any that treat your posts as advertising, any labelling requirement, and any limit on answering people from places you're not admitted. We apply “Attorney Advertising” labels to lawyer posts, comments and answers where appropriate under applicable rules, using the same assessment regardless of faculty, guest or lawyer-member status, and may suppress like and follow counts on them. The label does not permit sales pitches or solicitation, or replace other applicable requirements.

We may restrict who can answer. Posting, commenting or answering may be limited to faculty, verified lawyer members, or specific topics, at our discretion.

Rules for founders who post

Your post is public and permanent enough. Assume it can be read by anyone — including lawyers you might one day hire or face — and indexed by search engines.

A public answer is not advice. An answer from a lawyer here is general information. It's not advice to you, it doesn't make them your lawyer, and it may not apply in your jurisdiction. If you need advice, use the contact button on a faculty lawyer's profile and take it up with them directly, off the Platform. Nothing you post here is confidential; what you say to a lawyer on their own site may be.

Questions may become videos. We may use your question, edited and without your name, as the basis for a Legalicious video.

Prohibited content

We remove, and may suspend accounts for:

- Confidential, privileged, or personal information of yourself or others - Legal advice to identifiable individuals - Solicitation of legal work or anything else - Using the Platform to contact or pursue other members - Harassment, hate speech, threats, doxxing, defamation - Impersonation or misrepresentation of credentials - Like or follow manipulation - Spam, malware, deceptive links - Content infringing anyone's rights (see the Copyright Policy) - Anything unlawful, or anything that breaches a professional rule that applies to the poster

What we do about breaches

At our discretion and without notice we may remove or hide content, reset counts, restrict features, suspend or close accounts, revoke lawyer-member status, and — for faculty and guest participants — treat a breach as a breach of their agreement.

We're not obliged to explain a decision in detail and we don't run a formal appeals process. If you think we got it wrong, write to team@legalicious.com; a person will read it.

Reporting

Send anything that breaks these rules to team@legalicious.com with a link. We review reports but don't promise a response time or a particular outcome.

Changes

We may update these Guidelines. The version on this page applies.
