Terms of Service

Version 2.1 · Effective 2026-10-08

Legalicious Terms of Service

Effective 8 October 2026

The short version

Legalicious is an educational media program. Lawyers and other contributors explain legal topics on video; as features roll out, members can post, ask, comment, like, and follow. Nothing here is legal advice, and nothing here makes anyone your lawyer. The lawyers in the faculty pay to take part; that buys production and presence, not editorial treatment. If you contact a lawyer, you do so at your own initiative; Legalicious does not choose a lawyer for you and receives no fee for any contact. What you post is public. Likes and follows may be shown with your name, as on other professional networks, and you can turn that off. The full version below governs.

1. Who We Are and What These Terms Cover

1.1 Operator. legalicious.com and the Legalicious services (the "Platform") are operated by Bitesize Ventures, Inc., a Delaware corporation, which operates the Legalicious program ("Legalicious," "we," "us").

1.2 Who these Terms bind. These Terms govern your use of the Platform as a visitor, a member, or a lawyer member. By using the Platform you accept them, and when you create an account you accept them expressly. If you do not accept them, do not use the Platform.

1.3 Participants. The production and publication of content featuring a Guest Contributor, Faculty Counsel, or Faculty Firm is governed by the Legalicious Participation Agreement and any Enrollment accepted under it, which prevail over these Terms where they conflict. A participant is bound by these Terms for everything else they do on the Platform.

1.4 Related policies. The Cookie Notice, Community Guidelines & Content Policy, Copyright Policy, Editorial Policy, and Attorney Advertising Notice & Disclaimer supplement these Terms as applicable. The Privacy Policy separately describes how Legalicious collects, uses, and shares personal data.

1.5 Features. The Platform launches in stages, and Legalicious adds, changes, and withdraws features over time. Where these Terms describe a feature that is not available, the provisions about it do not apply until it is.

2. What Legalicious Is — and Is Not

2.1 Educational media. Legalicious publishes general explanatory content about legal topics for founders and other general audiences, and hosts a community around it.

2.2 Not legal services. Legalicious is not a law firm. It does not practice law, provide legal services, legal advice, or representation, and is not authorized to.

2.3 Not advice. Nothing on the Platform is legal advice — not a video, not a profile, not a post, not an answer to a question. Content is general, is not tailored to anyone's situation, may be specific to a jurisdiction without saying so, and may be out of date. Do not act, or refrain from acting, on anything here without advice from a lawyer qualified in your jurisdiction on your actual facts.

2.4 No attorney–client relationship. Using the Platform, watching a video, reading a profile, posting, asking a question, receiving a public answer, liking, following, saving, or contacting a participant does not by itself create an attorney–client relationship — not with Legalicious, and not with any lawyer. That relationship arises only if a lawyer agrees to act for you, after their own conflicts and engagement process, under a separate engagement.

2.5 Not a directory. Not a referral service. Legalicious does not rank, rate, match, recommend, or refer, and does not select the lawyer you contact. No fee Legalicious receives depends on whether you contact or engage any lawyer.

2.6 Attorney advertising. Content featuring or posted by lawyers may constitute attorney advertising in some jurisdictions. See the Attorney Advertising Notice & Disclaimer.

3. About the Lawyers on the Platform

3.1 Faculty pay to take part. Faculty Counsel and firms enrolled as Faculty Firm pay a participation fee. It buys production, presence, and distribution. It does not buy editorial treatment, a Style Spectrum score, a placement, or any endorsement by Legalicious. Guest Contributors appear by invitation and pay nothing. Featured placement is labeled.

3.2 Legalicious does not vouch for anyone. Legalicious requires participants and lawyer members to state their bar admissions and firm accurately and to keep that current. Beyond that, Legalicious does not verify, endorse, guarantee, or take responsibility for any lawyer's competence, standing, insurance, availability, fees, fitness for your matter, or conduct. Check with the relevant bar and make your own assessment.

3.3 Their words are their own. What a lawyer says in a video, on a profile, in a post, in a comment, or in an answer is their statement, not ours. Legalicious produces and edits participants' videos; it does not adopt their substance as its own advice. Legalicious does not edit lawyer posts.

3.4 Titles. "Guest Contributor," "Faculty Counsel," and "Faculty Firm" are titles within the Legalicious program. They are not employment by Legalicious, an academic appointment, a certification, a specialization, or any indication of skill, experience, or quality.

3.5 Editorial labels. Style Spectrum scores describe communication style. They are Legalicious's opinion, not a rating of ability. See the Editorial Policy.

3.6 Production credits are not participants. Law firms named as past production clients of the Legalicious production team are not participants in, sponsors of, or endorsers of Legalicious.

4. Contacting a Participant

4.1 Your initiative. Any contact you make with a participant — through a link on their profile, through any contact feature the Platform offers, or otherwise — is made at your own initiative. Legalicious does not choose the participant for you and does not pass your enquiry to anyone you did not choose.

4.2 What happens to what you send. Where you contact a participant through a link to their own website, what you send goes to them there, under their policies, and Legalicious is not part of the exchange. Where the Platform offers a way to send a message to a participant, the message is shared with that participant, as the Privacy Policy describes.

4.3 First contact with a lawyer. When you contact a lawyer to ask whether they can help you, the law in many places treats you as a prospective client: the lawyer may owe you duties of confidentiality about what you tell them, even if no engagement follows. Whether and how far that applies depends on your jurisdiction, on how you make contact, and on the lawyer — not on Legalicious. Two things do not depend on anything: nothing you post publicly on the Platform is protected, and nothing you send to Legalicious is privileged, because Legalicious is not a lawyer. Until a lawyer has confirmed they can act for you, share what they need to check conflicts and decide, and no more.

4.4 No obligation to respond. A participant is under no obligation to respond, to respond within any time, or to take your matter. They may be conflicted, may not practice in your jurisdiction, or may decline. Legalicious is not involved in, and takes no responsibility for, anything that happens between you and a participant.

5. Accounts

5.1 Browsing and accounts. You may browse without an account. Where the Platform offers posting, commenting, asking, liking, following, or saving, you need an account to use them.

5.2 Age. You must be 18 or over. The Platform is not directed at children and Legalicious does not knowingly collect their data.

5.3 One person, one account. Give accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and tell us at team@legalicious.com if you think your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity under your account.

5.4 Lawyer members. If you register as a lawyer, you must state every jurisdiction in which you are admitted, keep that accurate, and tell us of any suspension, disciplinary action, or loss of license. Legalicious may ask for verification and may label, restrict, or remove lawyer-member status at its discretion. Registering as a lawyer does not make you a participant and gives you no profile, placement, or other participation rights.

5.5 Suspension. Legalicious may suspend or close any account that breaches these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or for any reason it considers necessary to protect users, participants, the Platform, or itself.

6. Two Kinds of Content

6.1 Legalicious Content. "Legalicious Content" is content Legalicious produces or writes: participants' videos, written profiles, series, editorial copy, transcripts and summaries it creates, the question library, the Style Spectrum, and the design and structure of the Platform. Legalicious owns it or licenses it, and Section 12 governs it.

6.2 User Content. "User Content" is anything a user posts to the Platform themselves: questions, comments, posts, answers, replies, likes, follows, profile fields a member fills in, and anything else submitted through a posting feature. You own your User Content. Legalicious hosts it. Legalicious does not produce, edit, or pre-screen it, and is not its author or publisher. Sections 7 to 10 govern it.

6.3 Kept separate. Legalicious keeps these separate on the Platform and labels which is which. Where a submitted question is used to commission a Legalicious video, the video is Legalicious Content and the question stays User Content.

7. User Content — All Users

7.1 License. You keep ownership of your User Content. You grant Legalicious a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, perpetual license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, adapt, format, and make derivative works from it on and in connection with the Platform and Legalicious's channels, including using a question or post as the basis for Legalicious Content, in each case without attributing you by name unless you have asked us to. This license survives deletion of your account for content that has been incorporated into Legalicious Content or shared by others, and otherwise ends when you delete the content, subject to backups and legal retention.

7.2 It is public. Unless a feature is expressly marked private, User Content is public and visible to anyone, including lawyers, and may be indexed by search engines. Do not post confidential information, privileged material, the specific facts of a dispute, deal terms, or anyone else's personal data. Ask about a topic, not your situation.

7.3 Your promises. You promise that your User Content is yours to post, is accurate as far as you know, does not infringe anyone's rights, does not breach any confidentiality or professional obligation you owe, and complies with the Community Guidelines & Content Policy.

7.4 No obligation. Legalicious does not have to publish, keep, promote, or use any User Content, and may remove, hide, edit for format, or refuse any of it at any time, with or without notice, for any reason or none.

7.5 No monitoring duty. Legalicious may moderate, but is not obliged to monitor User Content and does not review it before it appears. If you see something that breaches these Terms, report it under Section 10.

7.6 Feedback. Suggestions and feedback you give about the Platform may be used freely by Legalicious without obligation to you.

8. User Content Posted by Lawyers

These rules apply to any lawyer member or participant who posts User Content, in addition to Section 7.

8.1 General information only. A post, comment, or answer must be general educational information. It must not be legal advice to an identifiable person about their specific situation. If someone posts their situation, the appropriate response is general information about the topic — or none.

8.2 No relationship. Answering a question does not create an attorney–client relationship, and you must not say or imply that it does, or invite a user to send you their confidential facts on the Platform.

8.3 No solicitation in content. A post, comment, or answer must not include a solicitation for representation, an advertisement, or any other commercial message. A participant's profile page is where they are presented to viewers; posts and answers are educational.

8.4 Audience information. Participants may receive audience information about their content, as the Privacy Policy describes. Your use of that information, and your handling of any communication a user sends you, are your own responsibility under the professional conduct rules that apply to you, including any rule on solicitation. Legalicious has no part in it.

8.5 Your own rules. You are responsible for compliance with the professional conduct and advertising rules of every jurisdiction in which you are admitted, including any rule that treats your posts as attorney advertising, any labeling requirement, and any restriction on answering questions from residents of jurisdictions where you are not admitted. Legalicious may label lawyer posts as attorney advertising and may suppress display of like or follow counts on them.

8.6 No confidences, no results, no superlatives. You must not disclose client confidences, describe client matters in identifiable form, state or imply past results, make comparative claims about other lawyers, or use superlatives about yourself or your firm.

8.7 Legalicious may restrict. Legalicious may limit posting, commenting, or answering to participants, verified lawyer members, or specific topics, and may remove any lawyer post at its discretion.

8.8 You carry your posts. You indemnify Legalicious against third-party claims arising from your User Content or your breach of this Section 8.

9. Likes, Follows, and Your Activity

9.1 What they mean. You can like participants, videos, posts, and answers, and follow participants. A like means a reader found something useful or would want to hear more. It is not a rating, ranking, review, recommendation, or testimonial as to any lawyer's ability or results, and most people liking have never been that lawyer's client.

9.2 How your activity is shown and reported. Comments and posts are shown with your display name. Likes, follows, and similar public activity may be shown with your display name and stated company, as on other professional networks, and may be reported to the participant concerned together with your title and company. Where the Platform shows or reports your activity with your name, it offers a Private activity setting; with it on, your activity counts toward totals and your name is not shown or reported.

9.3 Counts only. What you watch or save, which profiles you view, and which links you click are reported to participants only as counts, never with your name.

9.4 Contact details. Legalicious does not give any participant your email address, phone number, or other contact details. Anything you choose to send a participant is your own.

9.5 Display of counts. Legalicious may display, aggregate, hide, or stop displaying counts at any time, including in particular jurisdictions where display would raise an issue under professional conduct rules, and may reset counts it believes were manipulated.

9.6 No manipulation. No incentivized, purchased, coordinated, automated, or self-likes. Lawyers may not like or follow themselves or arrange for their firm, staff, clients, or family to do so. See the Community Guidelines & Content Policy.

10. Moderation, Reporting, and Enforcement

10.1 Standard. The Community Guidelines & Content Policy set out what is allowed. Legalicious enforces them at its discretion.

10.2 Reporting. Report anything that breaches these Terms to team@legalicious.com with a link. Legalicious reviews reports but does not promise a response time or a particular outcome.

10.3 Action. Legalicious may remove content, hide it, restrict features, reset counts, suspend or close accounts, and, for participants, treat a breach as a breach of the Participation Agreement. Legalicious does not have to explain a decision in detail and does not run a formal appeals process, though a person will read anything you send.

11. Things You Must Not Do

You must not:

(a) scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk-download the Platform or its content, or use any of it to train a model, except with Legalicious's written consent; (b) manipulate or attempt to manipulate likes, follows, questions, or any other metric; (c) impersonate anyone, misrepresent your affiliation, or misstate whether you are a lawyer or where you are admitted; (d) harass, abuse, threaten, defame, or dox anyone, or pursue another user who has asked you to stop; (e) post spam, malware, or links to malicious or deceptive sites, or attempt unauthorized access to the Platform or any account; (f) use the Platform to advertise, solicit, or promote any product, service, or legal practice, other than as expressly permitted by the Participation Agreement; (g) post anything unlawful, or anything that breaches a professional conduct rule that applies to you; (h) use the Platform for any commercial purpose other than personal use, or resell or frame any part of it; or (i) interfere with the Platform's operation or with other users' use of it.

12. Intellectual Property

12.1 Ownership. Legalicious Content, the Platform, and the Legalicious name and marks are owned by Legalicious or licensed to it. All rights reserved.

12.2 What you may do. You may view Legalicious Content, share links to it, and use Platform-native sharing functions. Except as authorized by an applicable Participation Agreement, accepted Enrollment or other express permission, you may not copy, reproduce, republish, edit, redistribute, download, or strip Legalicious branding from any of it. Authorized participant access, copies and display remain subject to their accepted approval, branding, use and correction/removal conditions.

12.3 Participants' own use. A participant's right to display their own videos comes from the Participation Agreement, not from these Terms.

12.4 Copyright complaints. Handled under the Copyright Policy.

13. Third-Party Platforms and Links

Legalicious Content also appears on third-party platforms under their terms. The Platform links to third-party sites Legalicious does not control and is not responsible for, including participants' own websites.

14. Availability and Changes to the Platform

Legalicious may change, suspend, or withdraw the Platform or any feature at any time, and does not guarantee it will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. Legalicious is not obliged to keep any content published, subject to the Participation Agreement.

15. Disclaimers

15.1 As is. The Platform and all content are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law Legalicious excludes all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, currency, fitness for purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement.

15.2 No verification. Legalicious does not verify User Content, including lawyer posts and answers, and does not endorse any of it. It does not warrant that any content applies to your jurisdiction or your facts, or that any lawyer is suitable for you.

16. Liability

16.1 What is not excluded. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by Legalicious's negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

16.2 Indirect loss. Subject to 16.1, Legalicious is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, data, or opportunity.

16.3 Reliance and lawyers. Subject to 16.1, Legalicious is not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on any content, Legalicious or User; from any User Content; from your selection, contact, or engagement of any lawyer; from anything a lawyer does or fails to do; or from the outcome of any legal matter.

16.4 Cap. Subject to 16.1, Legalicious's total aggregate liability to you in connection with the Platform is limited to the greater of US$100 and the amount you have paid Legalicious in the twelve months before the claim.

17. Indemnity

You will indemnify Legalicious, its parent, subsidiaries, and affiliates, and their officers, directors, employees, and contractors against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your User Content, your breach of these Terms, or your unlawful use of the Platform. This does not apply to consumers to the extent prohibited by applicable law.

18. Termination

You may close your account at any time. Legalicious may suspend or close it under Section 5.5 or 10.3. Sections 6, 7.1, 12, 15, 16, 17, and 20 survive.

19. Changes to These Terms

Legalicious may update these Terms. The version on this page applies. For material changes Legalicious will give notice on the Platform or by email to account holders before they take effect; continuing to use the Platform after that means you accept them.

20. Governing Law and Disputes

20.1 Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

20.2 Forum. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Where you are a consumer and the law of your place of residence gives you rights or a forum that cannot be excluded, nothing in this Section takes them away.
